Best apps for couples who want to get outside more

Four apps that couples use to spend more time together, compared by the job each one actually does, with the prices as their own pages listed them on 16 September 2026. One of them is ours; we have tried to be fair about the other three, and to be clear that they do different things.

Updated 16 September 2026.

The short version

Cupla keeps your two calendars in one place. Paired gives you questions and games to talk over. DateBox posts you a ready-made date in a box every month. Perfect Day tells you which evening this week is the good one to go outside. They overlap less than the app-store category suggests, and a couple could reasonably use two or three of them. The question is which job you are short of: the time, the conversation, the idea, or the day.

Cupla — the shared calendar

In its own words, One place to plan everything, together. Cupla is a shared calendar for couples that pulls your separate Google, Apple or Outlook calendars into one view, with shared to-do lists, date planning, countdowns and wishlists. It says it is Free to download. (cupla.app, checked 16 September 2026.) If the problem is that neither of you knows when the other is free, this is the one.

Paired — the conversation

The App Store lists Paired as Questions, Long Distance Games: daily questions and quizzes for two, answered separately and then compared. Free to download, with Paired Premium listed at $14.99 a month and at $39.99 and $74.99 a year depending on the plan, among other tiers (App Store listing, checked 16 September 2026). If the problem is that you are in the same room and out of things to say, this is the one.

DateBox — the date, delivered

DateBox Club posts a boxed date night each month: Everything's ready-to-go: settle in, open it up and enjoy the time together. Plans on its site run from $45.95 a month on a twelve-month plan to $54.95 a month month-to-month (dateboxclub.com, checked 16 September 2026). If the problem is that planning falls on one of you and neither of you wants to, this removes the planning — indoors, at a price.

Perfect Day — the good evening, in advance

Perfect Day does one thing the other three do not: it watches the weather for the places you love, judges each coming evening hour by hour against what the two of you call a good one — warm enough to sit still, not sticky, not windy, dry from five until nine, whatever your version is — and sends one plain message to both of you, days ahead, when one is coming. It suggests nothing to talk about and posts nothing. It is $5 a year after a free month. If the problem is that the good Thursday keeps passing unnoticed, this is the one.

Using them together

The honest recommendation is a combination. Perfect Day tells you Thursday evening is the good one; Cupla shows you are both free; you pick a walk from a list you agreed in advance, and Paired's question waits for the walk. The box can come on the rainy Saturday. What you cannot buy from any of the four is the evening itself; three of them help you use it, and one tells you when it is.

Prices and descriptions above are as each company's own page showed them on 16 September 2026; they change, and we recheck quarterly. Perfect Day makes this page, so weigh our paragraph accordingly.
